There is another dementia workshop offered May 15th by Piedmont Hospital. this one focuses on managing dementia behaviors that are difficult. If you are a caregiver of a parent with dementia, this is a great opportunity for you to learn tips on how to manage these behaviors. There is a diagnosis of dementia workshop in Atlanta, Ga, April 17, 8:30-4pm at the Cathedral of St. Phillips in Buckhead offerred by the Sixty Plus Older Adult Services of Piedmont Hospital. They will talk about the causes of dementia, levy body and Parkinson’s, the impact of dementia on family caregivers, an elder law atty will talk about the related financial issues,and they will also talk about end of life issues. Bereavement Support: My 5th Week in a Griefshare Group: Your Family and Grief

I will write about a topic from two weeks ago as I missed a week because I was sick.

Two week’s ago’s topic at Griefshare was “Your Family and Grief.”  The main theme of the class evolved around understanding that everyone grieves differently- even in the same family- and that’s ok.

The video this week talked about common issues for grieving parents,  effects on marriage and grief as well as how to help grieving children. I did notice the video is geared more toward the typical American family (2 kids) and didn’t specifically address the needs of adult children at all which is unfortunate. (more…)
